Pupal retinas of genotype GMR-Gal4/+ ; UAS-myc-rno/+ were scored for the presence of the above cell types. The average numbers of cells per ommatidium are shown with the standard deviations. The numbers ofommatidia scored are in parentheses. Due to the degeneration of the retina before adulthood, the number of photoreceptors was determined by counting the number of ELAV-positive nuclei in the larval eye disc (see materials and methods for details).
