For each mutator element, three independent homozygous strains were crossed to three independent homozygous jumpstarter strains (nine combinations as in Figure 1, G_{1} cross): Dm[{GAL4Δ}] strains: M8-2x, M19-2x, M19-3x. Dm[{GAL4Δ + UAS}] strains: M5.x, FM26.x, FF36.x. Dm[{tTA}] strains: x.2, x.5, x.7. Dm[Her{3xP3-ECFP, αtub-piggyBacK10}] jumpstarter strains: M1.III, M6.II, M10.III. Per combination, 27 single male crosses were set up as shown in Figure 1 (G_{2} cross).
