  • The results were classified into three groups. Group 1: No eggs (“No egg”) were laid and no obviously developed eggs could be found following brief inspection of the adult abdomen. Group 2: Most eggs hatched (“Egg hatch”) and larvae developed normal cuticle. Group 3: Abnormal eggs were laid or a substantial fraction of the eggs failed to hatch and cuticles had pattern defects (“Abnormal eggs and patterning defects”).
