1. Will I receive a password?

   Yes, when you complete the subscription process, you will receive a user name and a password.

2. May I share my password with friends?

   No.

3. What if I forget my password?

   We have instructions for what to do if you forget your user name or your password. Details about how to do this will be included as part of the subscription process.

4. Why should I get an Individual (Non-Member) subscription?

   Individual (Non-Member) Subscribers have access to:

   Tables of contents, abstracts, full text searching, full text display, document delivery, PDFs, links to Medline and GenBank, future tables of contents, and the advantage of having password access to GENETICS Online from any computer connected to the Internet.

5. How can I tell if my institution has subscribed? How do I get my institution to subscribe?

   If your institution has a paper subscription, it will be eligible to have an electronic version of the journal as well. In so doing, you will automatically have access to the tables of contents, abstracts, full-text searching, full text display, PDFs, Medline and GenBank links, and future tables of contents. You'll also see a button at the top of the page confirming you're signed in as part of an institution.

   If your institution does not have a paper subscription, it cannot get an electronic version of GENETICS. If you would like to have an institutional subscription, please contact your local librarian.

6. Will I still be able to get the paper version? For how long?

   Yes, individuals and institutions will continue to be able to receive the paper version for the foreseeable future. At some time, the paper and electronic versions may be available as separate subscriptions.

7. Who is eligible for an Individual (Non-Member) and a Member Subscription?

   Individual (Non-Member) subscriptions are available to individuals, providing them with a paper and electronic version of the journal. GSA Members are eligible for Member Subscriptions to GENETICS, providing them with a paper and electronic version of the journal. Members and Non-Members may also have access to GENETICS Online through an Institutional Subscription. Institutional Subscriptions are somewhat more limited than Member Subscriptions. The special member services are not available to non-member subscribers, and full-text access from the institution's network (e.g. home access) is not available. GSA Members are the only individuals who can receive an electronic only subscription to GENETICS Online.

8. How can I access GENETICS Online if I am not a GSA member and I don't have access through an institutional subscription?

   You may wish to apply for GSA membership or you may wish to purchase an Individual (Non-Member) print subscription which provides access to the electronic version. Without a subscription you have access to tables of contents, abstracts, and full text searching (without full text viewing) at no cost and without having to register.
