Life spans (LS) are all in days following the L4 stage. Ages posteclosion (hatching of eggs into L1 larvae) would be greater by 2.5 days. Experiments a–h indicate independent survival assays; thus, all strains with the same experiment designation were tested simultaneously. D, number of animals counted at death, after censoring losses (which averaged 7% and were due to either endotokia or entrapment). P values were determined for entire survival curves by Gehan's Wilcoxon test, separately for each experiment; parental strain CL2a was compared to SR700 and SR701 [two independent lsq4b(BO) congenic lines in a CL2a background] or to SR702, SR703, or SR704 [three independent lsq5a(BO) congenic lines in a CL2a background].
