The Ama1-Directed Anaphase-Promoting Complex Regulates the Smk1 Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase During Meiosis in Yeast
C. M. McDonald, K. F. Cooper and E. Winter
In the article by C. M. MCDONALD, K. F. COOPER and E. WINTER (GENETICS 171: 901911) entitled "The Ama1-Directed Anaphase-Promoting Complex Regulates the Smk1 Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase During Meiosis in Yeast" the authors reported in Figures 3 and 4 that a cdc28-4/cdc28-4 ama1-
/ama1-
strain could form spores. Subsequent analysis showed that the strain referred to as cdc28-4/cdc28-4 ama1/ama1 (CMY37 in Table 1) contains an intact copy of AMA1. The authors have generated new cdc28-4/cdc28-4 ama1/ama1 strains and have found that the strains do not form spores. Therefore, the conclusion that cdc28-4 can suppress the sporulation defect of strains lacking AMA1 is in error. This change does not affect the other conclusions of this article.
